New Partner Coaching Program: Accelerating direct-entry Partner integration

Impact Coaches worked with a professional services firm’s two direct-entry Partners to help them more quickly integrate and start performing at their best.
The challenge
One of the direct-entry Partners appeared to be integrating well. From the beginning, she had some good solid work, was active in the market, and other Partners brought her to their client meetings.
The other new Partner was struggling. He had not landed any significant work and did not appear to be integrating well with the other Partners in his group. He seemed frustrated with the firm and spent significant time alone in his office.
The approach
We helped both Partners grow their client bases and have positive impacts within their groups.
- Helped the first Partner define her client group, and create a plan by using a relationship map of key Partners and leaders in the firm.
- Focused the efforts of the second Partner on business development and creating a map of key relationships within the firm.
- Engaged the practice leader in helping the second Partner by ensuring the Partner, practice leader and coach met numerous times over the course of a year.
The results
By the end of their programs, the two new direct-entry Partners were performing at high levels within the firm:
Partner One
- Was at a full client book in six months (faster than any other direct-entry Partner).
- Was asked to join some national committees and quickly became known as an “up and coming partner” and future leader.
Partner Two
- Developed a solid client book in 12 months, and made a few deep relationships with some key Partners in other practices.
- Became more integrated within his own practice and got to know his Partners better.
- Developed a plan to further build his relationships internally and externally.
The program
We can help your new partners develop themselves in alignment with your organization’s strategy.
