Individual Coaching Program: From quiet to confident

Impact Coaches helped a Partner in a mid-size accounting firm enhance her professional reputation and professional style among her colleagues, clients, and staff.

A technically brilliant Partner in a mid-sized law firm spoke in a quiet monotone, peppered with “ummms”. She didn’t contribute frequently to client meetings and, when she did, no one could hear her. She had difficulty winning new work and building the confidence and earning the trust of clients. Her staff was reticent to go to her for advice, and some clients had begun to ask for a different Partner to work on their files.

• With our client’s permission, we interviewed peers, the performance manager, and staff for insights on her habits, strengths and opportunities for development.
• Administered the Birkman Method Personality Assessment to understand her interests, usual work style, and stressors.
• Debriefed the Partner and helped her develop coaching objectives using the data gathered from her 360 and personality assessments.

We conducted regular coaching meetings with the Partner to help her develop techniques to speak more loudly and clearly, prepare effectively for meetings, enhance her presence, and contribute in an impactful and confident manner.

By the end of the program, the Partner had made significant strides in enhancing her personal style and professional reputation. Notably, she:

• Spoke with increased enthusiasm and clarity. Clients noticed and were pleased with her leadership.
• Increased her confidence at work. Her team noticed and began asking her for guidance and coaching.
