Looking at AI with a sense of abundance, we can deepen our purpose

By Antoine Laganiere
In The future of coaching includes AI … and something more, we looked at AI’s impact on coaching. But AI will impact every industry. Over the last year, we’ve seen many organizations consolidate and transfer some of their operational tasks to AI.
Instead of seeing this evolution through the lenses of fear and loss, we have a different choice we can make.
AI helps us create more space
When we see our work as something we need to do to survive, it’s easy to see AI as something that can threaten our stability. After all, it’s taking work away from us. But it’s also important to see what it gives us. To see AI from the perspective of abundance.
By taking away menial tasks, AI helps us create more space. So we can express who we are more readily in our work. Be more creative. Build and innovate more often. And take the time to deepen our purpose and align more authentically to our values.
AI creates time and room for us to do what we really want to do. The projects and work that thrill us. The initiatives that connect us to something bigger than ourselves. The pursuits that positively impact us and the people around us the most. The teamwork and collaboration that truly propels us and our organizations forward.
Listen to what our intuition tells us
Making that leap to courageously act from our authentic self takes time – and effort.
First, we need to change our mindset and think deeply about our purpose. Less, what do I have to do to survive? More, what can I give?
Part of this effort requires us to tap into, and in some cases get back in touch with, our intuition. To reflect. To contemplate. To ask what our deepest self uniquely wants to give to the world. What do we see that’s missing that we can contribute to? How can we fill the gaps that we perceive?
Getting to know this inner voice is important. Trusting it and listening to it, even more so. And this is a skill we need to re-integrate as professionals and culture leaders. In this current information and data filled environment, we can easily become disconnected directionally, which has a big impact on our personal fulfilment, as well as on our teams and organizations, and what we ultimate create. Vision and passion need to remain staples of our approach.
We can go anywhere
Once we tap into our intuition and trust the hint of the direction we need to follow, we can start with one action that gets us closer to that expression of giving. It could be anything. Reading a book on or writing something about the subject. Or even talking to someone we trust about it, like a mentor or coach, so we can get inner clarity and build momentum towards what we want to create and bring forth.
Then, we take more steps to get us closer. Followed by more steps. And from there, we can go anywhere. Our path is much less tactical because AI is taking care of the linear aspects of our work.
Instead, when we lead with abundance, our new path can take us wherever the world needs us. Wherever we can contribute the most. And wherever we feel the most fulfilled. This is true for all generations and value systems, as well as making it as exciting a time as ever to be developing as humans and organizations.
