The business impact of coaching is top of mind for many organizations today. With more and more organizations using coaches, a large number of coaches in the market, and the high cost of some coaching engagements, organizations want to know how coaching translates into tangible business value.

It’s traditionally been challenging to demonstrate ROI for coaching, except anecdotally. Until now.

The new face of coaching ROI

At Impact, almost every coaching engagement starts with personality and behavioural assessments.

While personality assessments help leaders and teams understand what their habits, motivations, and values are, behavioural assessments measure leaders’ actual behaviours under leadership pressure.

And while personality traits are generally fixed, behaviours can be coached – and measured. So new, innovative behavioural assessments, like System-3, help us see which behaviours leaders deploy under stress and where they can develop their skills through coaching, so they can become the executives their organizations need them to be.

For example, we know from data that high performing CEO’s focus on both setting the vision and selling it to gain buy in from their organization.

If we identify through behavioural assessment that one of those competencies isn’t being exercised, we can coach that individual to flex that competency, ensuring a better chance of success.

Then, because behaviours can be coached, by re-testing after coaching, we can demonstrate the difference that coaching has made on their behaviours – the progress they’ve made toward becoming the best CEO they can be.

The assessments also help pinpoint the behaviours that are unlikely to improve dramatically, indicating where the leaders could use other kinds of support. And then our coaches can work with the leader, team, and organization to put those supports in place. For a potential CEO candidate, for example, who has, say, less than stellar tendencies toward innovation, we might recommend bringing on a COO with a strong innovation focus so the candidate can complement the CEO and continue to drive the organization’s innovation goals.

Impact can help

We combine System-3 behavioural assessments with the right coaching to demonstrate the change in your leaders’ behaviours toward your organization’s ultimate goals. How coaching is developing better behaviours and creating a better leader. A leader who’s going to be best suited to leading your organization or team. Someone who’s going to be better positioned to achieve the business outcomes you’re after.
